I've been a dilettante. I dabble. I dabbled in Quantum Mechanics at Imperial College in London, followed it up by auditing for a living at Andersen while doing a course in philosophy in the evenings, came back to India and did an MBA from ISB in Leadership and Change management and then selling soaps for HLL. Now I work for a training company that specialises in self awareness courses and life coaching (Leadership workshops and Executive Coaching for corporates). It's meaningful.
14 Schools. Lived on 3 continents. Travelled to over 25 countries. Speak no recognisable human languages. Nearly became a professional dancer. Then I considered becoming a singer. Now I'm writing a book.
I've undoubtedly dabble. That's because I think the world has so much to offer that, like a kid in a strip joint I didn't know what to focus on.
But finally things are coming together. I'm beginning to understand what my purpose in life is. It's taken me nearly 30 years to figure it out but I don't think I could have if I hadn't taken all those intermediate steps. I want to be a person who shows people that it's possible to get everything you ever wanted if you take responsibility for it. I'm in charge of what happens in this life.
That's lucid dreaming.
